A guide to phylotranscriptomic analysis for phycologists

Phylotranscriptomics is the study of phylogenetic relationships among taxa based on their DNA sequences derived from transcriptomes. Because relatively low cost transcriptome sequencing compared with genome and fact that phylotranscriptomics almost as reliable phylogenomics, phylotranscriptomic analysis has recently emerged preferred method for studying evolutionary biology. However, it challenging to perform transcriptomic analyses together without programming expertise. This presents a protocol aid marine biologists unfamiliar UNIX command-line interface bioinformatics tools. Here, we used transcriptomes reconstruct molecular phylogeny dinoflagellate protists, diverse globally abundant group plankton organisms whose large complex genomic have impeded conventional phylogenic data. We hope our proposed may serve practical helpful information training education novice phycologists.
